Horror in fashion

I started to research into some designers that used horror as inspiration for their collections. I found Alexander McQueen had a lot of gothic horror inspired pieces. He also uses Victorian Gothic as an inspiration as it combines elements of gothic and romance. Which i feel is perfect for this project as Claudia is obsessed with horror and i love with Quentin.

I particularly liked this piece as it definitely shows the mix of the two, horror and romance. The softness of the material which is feather like shows the more romantic side, then the structure of the design and the scale shows the horror side. The subtle touches like the red roses also give a feel of both. I feel the more romantic side is something i would picture my Claudia wearing, something that still has a horror edge, but is more subtle in portraying it. I like the idea of using a softer material.

After looking at Alexander McQueen, i came across Iris Van Herpin, who is often compared to McQueen. Who's collection i think show a horror side but more literally.
I like the way some of his pieces look like they are made from metal, and i like the way i feel like they would make a noise if you wore them. I think this is a big factor in this project as there is a 'live' element as it is for a music video.
I want to research different materials that i could incorporate in my looks which would be my auditory element. Not in my styling though, i would want to combine it within my make up or hair design.
